This morning, I prayed to God to answer my prayers concerning a matter I have been inordinately fixated on for a little while. I thought I had a pretty good idea of how God was going to comfort me, and encourage me to move on. In fact, I had already started out the conversation I would be having with my friend later in the day regarding this. Boy was I in for a surprise!
God opened my eyes this morning to help me see… I was reminded in a very clear way, about a couple my husband and I know. Similar to us in many ways – Young couple (in their 30s), raising their children, serving God, living life. They are both medical doctors, and they could easily be making a killing working here in America as doctors. Even if they decided they would only live on one income, they would no doubt be living an extremely comfortable life here.
But guess what, they have been working in developing countries as missionary doctors for several years. They have chosen to sacrificially bless others with their gift, and to continually share the love of God with others in such a practical way. This is such a positive reminder and inspiration to me. It helped me realize that the matter I had been thinking about was truly nothing! My eyes had been focused on something so little, I was losing sight of the much bigger picture!
Dear Friends, please join me as I pray:
Dear Lord, Please open my eyes, my heart, my mind, and my hands!
Open the eyes of my heart Lord!
Please open my eyes to see what you want me to see
Please open my ears to hear clearly when you speak
Please open my heart to receive from you
Please open my heart to love like you
Please open my mind so I can think farther, bigger, deeper and wiser
Please open my mind so I can understand
Please open my hands so I may receive the help you are so eager to give me
Please open my hands to boldly, freely, joyfully share your blessings with others
Please give me a deeper passion for the lost – it’s a little bit scary to pray this prayer.. but please Lord, please give me an undeniable burden for souls, a passion and compassion for people!
Please help me to trust you completely, obey you totally, and follow wherever you may lead, knowing that I will always find complete joy and peace in the center of your will!
Please help me remember to always fix my eyes on you!
I want to know you more, I want to love you more, I want to please you always
I want your will to be my deepest desire
I want my #1 priority in life to be gaining God’s Approval
