How To Make A Point Without Making An Enemy.

How To Make A Point Without Making An Enemy.

Good Morning, Dear Friends!

I recently came across this quote, and I thought it was such a great lesson and reminder! I pray it is a blessing to you as well!

Here goes:

“Tact is the art of making a point without making an enemy.” ~ Howard W. Newton

Encouraging Bible Verses & Scripture Quotes that reinforce the above lesson:

#1. Remember that “You are the salt of the earth.” ~ Matthew 5:13, NIV

#2. “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” ~ Colossians 4:6, NIV

#3. Focus on encouraging others and building them up, instead of focusing on winning an argument at all costs.
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” ~ Ephesians 4:29, NIV

#4. Focus more on listening to others than on making your point – especially when you are angry. Listen more and speak less (2 ears, 1 mouth!).
“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” ~ James 1:19-20, NIV

#5. “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” ~ Colossians 3:17, NIV

Prayer:
Dear God, please help us to learn how to say the right things at the right time.

Help us to learn that there is a time to be silent and a time to speak!

Help us to realize that even when it is the right time to speak, there is a right and wrong way to make a point – we do not have to make enemies just because we are making a point!

Please let our words be gracious and seasoned with salt, so we may know how to answer each person at each point in time.

Please let our words be helpful to others – May we continually build others up and not tear them down!

Help us to wisely, calmly, tactfully and respectfully make our point when needed, without making enemies in the process.

May we always remember that everything we do is for God’s glory – our words, our thoughts, our actions, even our inactions.

May your name always be glorified in our lives, Dear Lord!

In Jesus’ mighty and precious name we pray, Amen.
