Dear Friends,

Today, I am being reminded that loving others generously is our most important work (other than loving God).
Showing practical love to others in my daily life glorifies God.
When I love others, I am loving God!

Loving Others Generously Is Our Most Important Work.

Matthew 22:36-40, NIV “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

*How can I say I love God if I don’t love others?*
1 John 4:20, NIV Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.

What Truly Matters…
1 Peter 4:7-11, NIV The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

John 13:35, ESV By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

As we can see from the above, love is not optional – we must love one another!

One of the most practical ways of loving others is by including others, inviting others, and opening our homes, doors and hearts to others.

We love others generously when we offer our friendship, kindness, empathy, homes, and hearts to others. Some people truly have the gift of hospitality, but even when it doesn’t come naturally to us, we can learn! God will grant us wisdom and courage. God will make it easy for us! Amen.

Prayer
Dear God, please help us not to be so absorbed in all of our “important work” that we forget what’s most important (other than loving God) – loving others generously. Help us to generously and lovingly open our hearts, lives and homes to others without grumbling and complaining. Help us to be conduits of God’s love to others, always remembering that we are the hands and feet of Jesus, and that we all need each other. And whenever we recognize an opportunity to show God’s love to others, please help us to be quick to obey! Amen.
