The Cost of Following Jesus

“As they were going along the road, someone said to him, ‘I will follow you wherever you go.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.’

To another he said, ‘Follow me.’ But he said, ‘Lord, let me first go and bury my father.’

Jesus said to him, ‘Leave the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.’

Yet another said, ‘I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.’ Jesus said to him, ‘No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.’”

Dear Friends, are you following Christ Jesus? Are you ready to follow Christ unreservedly, wholeheartedly, and unashamedly… or are you still looking back, caught up in “sorting this out” and “sorting that out” first?

God is not asking for instant perfection, but for your heart. God calls you to take one faithful step at a time, keeping your eyes on Jesus. Are you ready for Christ to take center stage in your life, instead of being tucked away in the corner, called upon only when you need something?

The question is simple: Are you ready to follow Christ? Are you ready to say with your whole heart: “Yes Lord, I will follow You”?

May the cry of our heart today and always be: I WILL FOLLOW CHRIST.
