Humility is a choice.

Dear Friends, Today I am being reminded that Humility is a choice.
Humility is a choice we must make every day.

God can help us in our weaknesses, including pride.
God can give us the grace to be humble.
God can fill us with His Holy Spirit.
God can change our hearts with our cooperation.

But Friends, the choice is always up to us.
We are not born with humility, we have to choose to be humble.
Humility doesn’t just jump on us, we have to choose to develop humility.
Humility is a choice!

When we are humble, we choose to let love rule.
When we are humble, we choose to serve God and others with no strings attached.
When we are humble, we choose to continually deflect praise to God, and to others as well!

In the Bible, we see several scriptures which encourage us to be humble. As the following scriptures illustrate, humility is a choice we must continually make. So help us God!

Colossians 3:12, ESV Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,

Colossians 3:1, NIV Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Zephaniah 2:3, NIV Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility…

1 Corinthians 3:18, NLT Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.

Proverbs 25:9, NIV He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.

Prayer
Dear Lord, we look to you. We want to be humble! Please help us surrender completely to you in every way. We want to Choose Humility every day. We are representatives of Jesus. We want to shine your light everywhere we go. Help us Lord! By your grace, we will continue to strive towards humility, so your name may be glorified in us. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
