God needs our love! Why does God need our love?

Dear Friends, I come to you with a heavy heart today after reading a heart breaking note from a brother in Christ. All I could think of after reading this note, is that God needs our love! Oh yes, God needs our love.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” ~ John 13:34-35, ESV
“You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.” ~ John 13:13-15, ESV
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” ~ John 15:12, ESV

Why does God need our love?
Why does Jesus put so much emphasis on loving others?
Why is God’s greatest commandment to us the commandment of LOVE? (See Matt 22:36-40)
Why does the apostle reiterate that without LOVE, everything else we do is pretty much USELESS!?! (See 1 Cor 13:1-3)

Friends, I think I know why.
God needs our love because God loves His people through His people!
God’s love is ministered to others through our love – we are his hands and feet!
Love is everything, and God needs our love!
So, God really truly needs us serving God and others in LOVE!
Oh Dear God, please help us Lord. Please help us to LOVE!

Please Lord, help us to remember that life is not all about us!
Please Lord, help us to remember that there are people hurting all around us!
Please Lord, help us to WAKE UP and OPEN OUR EYES to see how we can encourage others around us!

Help us not to selfishly focus on our own needs alone, but to live in consideration of others too!
Please Lord, help us to “bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Gal 6:2, ESV)
People are HURTING, DISCOURAGED, LONELY and TIRED!
Not just Non-Christians, but even Christians too!! Even people who have been Christians for years and years and years! People in the church! People in our families! People at work!
People need our love, so GOD NEEDS OUR LOVE, and we are his hands and feet!

Please Lord, help us to realize what it truly means to LOVE.
Please Lord, help us to get our priorities in life straight!
Please Lord, help us to always remember that LOVE is what matters most!
Without LOVE, everything else we do is practically USELESS!
Without LOVE, we’re just NOISE MAKERS! (See 1 Cor 13:1-3)
Oh, God forbid this for us! We will not just be noisemakers in Jesus’ name!
We will do our parts and love one another, by God’s grace!

Help us Lord to meet this dire need as you lead us daily!
Help us to be willing and able agents of love, to the glory of your name!
People need our love, and we are the hands and feet of Jesus!
The harvest is plentiful, and GOD NEEDS OUR LOVE!!!

Oh Lord, May we always be available to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
Oh Lord, help us to bless others with LOVE, as you have blessed us and continually bless us!
Help us to generously and unreservedly give others the gift of LOVE!
Strengthen us and guide us and lead us Lord,
May your name be constantly glorified as we love!
May our JOY be full as we obey you in love!
Thank you Jesus for your love and for your joy!
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
