God is My Source of Happiness ~ God is My Happy Place! God is the Reason for My Happiness! 🙂

To be near God is my happiness…
Psalm 16:11b, ESV In your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Several weeks ago, a dear friend asked me this question:
What is your happy place?

We then had an absolutely delightful conversation discussing things and situations that make us happy. I had an ever growing list of what put me in my happy place… Thinking and talking about those things put a big smile of gratitude on my face! 😀

Over the last few weeks, when something or someone made me laugh, I would remember our happy place conversation and smile. I wondered if I could have one word, just one word, which described my happy place.

This morning, I sang along to TobyMac’s Me Without You as I cleaned up my kitchen. As I played the words over in my head, it suddenly clicked! GOD is my happy place!!! 😀 As I sang, I thought about my Christian life so far. It’s so clear – Whenever I have made my relationship with God my priority in life, I have had clarity of mind, I have experienced peace, and many other things in my life have fallen into place. In short: Whenever I am in right relationship with God, I am in my happy place 🙂

Without God in my life, I’m a big fat mess! If not for God… where would I be?
Indeed, God is my source of happiness. God is the reason of my happiness. God is my happy place!
God is the foundation of my happiness; God is the reason for my happiness; God is the source of my joy.
By God’s grace, God is the center of my joy!

Everything else in my happy place is a delightful bonus – God is the main deal, everything revolves around Him! Like Toby Mac says in Me Without You…

And where would I be
Without You…
I’d be packing my bags when I need to stay
I’d be chasing every breeze that blows my way
I’d be building my kingdom just to watch it fade away
It’s true…
That’s me without You!

Yep – Without God, I’m a mess.
Without God, my life lacks direction,
Without God, my life lacks true meaning and purpose.

Yes Yes Yes!
God is my source of happiness;
God is my happy place!!!
Thank God for God! Thank God for Life! Thank God for Joy!
