Getting Ready for Eternity – Bible Verses on Preparing for Eternity

Acts 20:24, NLT But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

Psalm 90:12, ESV So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.

Matthew 6:19-21, NIV Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Colossians 3:2, NIV Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

John 16:33, ESV I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

Philippians 3:20, ESV …our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

2 Corinthians 5:10, ESV For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

2 Corinthians 4:18, NIV So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Related: Fixing your eyes on God

Romans 8:24-25 NLT We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.)

Hebrews 11:1, ESV Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

2 Corinthians 5:7, ESV For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

1 Timothy 6:12, ESV Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

1 Timothy 6:17-19, NLT Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.

1 Corinthians 10:31, ESV So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Philippians 4:6-7, NIV Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Amen)
