Dear Friends, I came upon a quote this morning, and I wanted to share it with you:
“Choose to spend more of your life doing things that only you can do.” ~ Rick Warren
I love it.
We all get so busy – there are so many things that are constantly competing for our attention.
So how do we prioritize? How do we organize?
How do we decide what we spend more of our time doing?
My thoughts on this: Focus on doing the things that only you can do.
This is not to say that I will never do the things that others can’t do as well. But friends, I want to spend more of my life, my time, my focus, my energy, and my priorities on things that only I can do. I want to make a difference. I want to excel. I want to focus on becoming who God created me to be!
Only I can be a great and supportive wife to my husband.
Only I can be a loving mom to my children.
Only I can show my own specific love to my parents and siblings.
Only I can honor God the way He has designed me to – by fulfilling His purpose for me.
Only I can show my love and encouragement to friends and others in my sphere of influence, with my own specific personality.
Only I can share God’s great love with others with my own specific passion, disposition, strengths, gifts and talents.
Furthermore, only I can use my own specific talents and strengths to bless my company, my employer, my colleagues, to the glory of God. Whether I am an employee, an employer, or even a small business owner, I have a specific set of strengths that I owe to myself to focus on developing, so that I can excel and grow! Dear Lord, I want to excel at being the person you created me to be. I want to spend more of my life doing the things that only I can do. I want to fulfill your purpose for my life. I want to make a difference. I want to excel in my career. I want to excel in loving others.
Dear Lord, please help me to remember that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Please help me to get my priorities right. Please let my light shine! Let me be a sweet smelling fragrance to you. May I continually be a blessing to you. May I continually be a blessing to others. May your name ALWAYS be glorified in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
1 Corinthians 15:58, NIV Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Philippians 3:14, NIV I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:15, MSG So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. (So help us God!)
