Declare God’s Word Over Your Life. Confess God’s Word Over Your Life.
Key Verse:
Psalm 118:17, NIV I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done.
Psalm 118:17, KJV I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.

About a year ago, a good friend of mine was traveling out of town for a work conference. She was riding in a vehicle along with her immediate boss, as well as a few other superiors from work. At a point, she thought the driver was speeding, but she was the only who seemed to notice anything was amiss. Everyone else seemed fine with the way things were going.
Suddenly, she got a pressing urge to say the following scripture: “I will not die, but live to declare the works of the Lord.” She said this scripture silently to herself, nobody even heard her. She had no idea what was about to happen. The words had hardly left her mouth when their vehicle lost control and crashed into a stationary truck. Sadly, everyone else in the car (4 other people) died instantly. She was the only one who made it out alive – with no broken bones or any long lasting injuries.
We mourn those whose lives were lost. The fact that they died while she lived, does not make her a better or more deserving person than them. There are some things we just don’t understand in life.
However, I couldn’t shake off the fact that she had declared those words over her life just before the crash happened, not knowing what was about to happen. And you can’t ignore the fact that indeed, she did not die, but lived to proclaim what the Lord did for her. (Praise God!)
What happened to my friend reminded me of some important truths:
1. What we allow ourselves to be filled up with or saturated with is so important.
If we continually fill ourselves with God’s word, God’s word will flow from our hearts at all times – edifying, encouraging and building us up, as well as those around us. If we on the other hand continually fill ourselves up with trash, rubbish, or other things that do not edify, sadly those are the same things that will flow from our hearts. See also: God’s word is powerful and mighty.
2. We must make every effort to be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit, by God’s grace.
May God grant us wisdom and discernment to be sensitive to God’s voice and God’s leading. To not discount these little “nudges” we get as God is trying to speak to us, but listen for God’s voice in everything we do, and to be quick to obey God – no matter how insignificant our obedience may seem at the time. See also: Obedience is the proof of faith in God; Is God Trying To Get Your Attention?
3. We must consistently and continually declare and confess God’s word over our lives.
When you declare God’s word over your life and situation, you speak words of life, not death over your life and your situation. When we speak good over our lives and everything concerning us, we have nothing to lose, but everything to gain! Let’s stop speaking negativity over our lives, but instead speak life, speak joy, speak peace, speak health, speak love, speak goodness, and speak salvation over our lives, the lives of our loves ones, our work, our businesses, our ministries, our relationships, and everything that concerns us. And this takes us back to point #1, which reminds us to fill up hearts (and in turn our mouths) with words of life, not death! So help us God, Amen. Prayer:
Dear Lord, please help us to guard our hearts, and in turn to be careful about the words we speak. Help us to be thoughtful about what we are allowing to saturate our hearts, spirits and minds, because “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45). Help us to continually fill our minds, hearts, thoughts and spirit with your words of LIFE. Help us to continually declare and confess God’s word over our lives! May our lives, work, and everything we say and do continually honor and glorify God. In Jesus’ mighty and precious name we pray, Amen.
Thanks for reading, Dear Friends!
Have a wonderfully blessed, stress-free, productive, and joyful day!
Much Love & Blessings,
