I remember hearing the account of a man who had surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. He was very excited to have become a Christian. Shortly afterwards, he shared his good news with some of his co-workers. One of them responded happily: That’s really great, I’m a Christian too!

The new Christian looked at his co-worker and shook his head. Really? Wow, I had no idea you were a Christian. Why didn’t you ever tell me? You are actually the reason it took me so long to become a Christian! In the past, I had figured if a non-Christian could be as good, honest, kind and principled as you were, there was really no need for me to become a Christian.

Hmm. That story hit me hard when I first heard it. Can you imagine people looking up to you, being inspired by you, but never knowing you are a Christian? Never knowing why you are the way you are and why you do the good things you do? This is why we are encouraged to tell others about Jesus – So that others may come to the knowledge of Him. This is why Jesus tells us to share the good news with others.

Sometimes our lives, daily conversations or good actions will by God’s grace draw people in, and they themselves will ask us questions, giving us a wonderful opportunity to share Jesus with them. That’s fantastic! But other times, as God provides the opportunity, may we remember to initiate the process of telling others about Jesus. So help us God, Amen.

“Telling others about Jesus” can be as simple as inviting a friend or co-worker to church. Nothing forceful, Nothing necessarily fancy – just a simple and friendly invitation:). Perhaps you could even offer to pick them up and drive to church with them if they want to. They just might say yes, and that might be the beginning of a beautiful testimony! Even if they decline, the seed would have been planted. They may go with you unprompted another time, or go with someone else who invites them next time.
