5 Steps to Gratitude
1. Pray that God opens your eyes and your heart
We may have a million reasons to be grateful, but if our eyes and our hearts are blinded we will never realize it. Ask God to open your eyes so you can truly look around you and realize what you can and should be grateful for. Ask God to give you open eyes, open heart, open mind. Ask God to prepare your heart (the soil) for gratitude to be planted in it.
Matthew 6:22, ESV The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,
Ephesians 1:18, NIV I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,
Ezekiel 36:26a, NLT And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. More On: A Thankful Heart ; The Power of Prayer ; Beauty all around us
2. Take stock of what you have
“Count your blessings name them one by one, Count your blessings see what God has done, Count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done!” It’s so true! Please, take some time out to take an inventory of your blessings in life, and you will be pleasantly surprised at how much God has blessed you. Watch gratitude take root as you take the time to count your blessings!
John 1:16, NLT From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.

3. Know the worth of what you have
If you don’t know the worth of what you have, you can never be grateful for it. Want to be grateful for your Life, Family and Friends, Career, Health, Peace of Mind, Gifts & Talents, Joy, Salvation, God’s love, God’s word, God’s sacrifice, or anything else? First assess and know its worth! Then watch gratitude begin to grow!
Psalm 103:2, NLT Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.
Ephesians 3:18 -19, NLT And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
