5 Important Lessons I’ve Learned About Confrontation:

#1. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Choose your battles wisely. Practice letting things go regularly if they don’t really matter. Majority of the time, the things we consider confronting other people about don’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. Focus on the good in your relationships, instead of focusing on minor annoyances.

#2. Don’t believe everything you hear, Don’t take everything to heart, and Don’t jump to conclusions about what people’s words and actions mean.
1 John 4:1a, MSG My dear friends, don’t believe everything you hear. Carefully weigh and examine what people tell you.
Ecclesiastes 7:21, ESV Do not take to heart all the things that people say, lest you hear your servant cursing you.

#3. Don’t confront others when you are angry. Wait until you’ve calmed down and had a chance to reassess the situation. Similarly, don’t react to people’s confrontations when you are angry. Better to really take your time to respond wisely and calmly, rather than to say something you will regret, in the heat of the moment.

#4. Don’t go around gossiping about others if they have done something wrong, instead of speaking directly with them. Either completely let it go and shut up about it, or approach them gently after you’ve had a chance to give it some thought. Don’t participate in idle talk about others, as tempting as it may be. Gossip kills!

God is our help as we seek to do good, even when we have been hurt. ❤

Proverbs 15:1, NIV A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

#5. Don’t forget to go to God in prayer. God wants you to call on him with anything and everything you may deal with in life, including your relationships. God is ableNothing is too difficult for God!
