I woke up this morning with this post on my mind and on my fingers, ready to write.
I pray it is a blessing to us all!

Here are 4 Things That Can Prevent Us From Receiving Wisdom From God:
1. Pride.
The Bible reminds us that “[God] leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way” (Psalm 25:9, ESV). We are also reminded that “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble” (James 4:6b, NIV). When we are proud, we effectively block God’s wisdom from being applied in our lives. When we are proud, we don’t pause to consider advice from others who God may be using to make us wiser one way or another. When we are proud, we think we know it all. See also: Humility is the key to success; The wise listen to advice; Show me your ways Lord.

2. Talking Too Much.
If we want to continually receive wisdom from God, we must learn to control our tongues and not talk too much. Too much talk leads to sin. When you talk too much, you are not giving yourself the chance to listen before you speak. When you talk too much, you are not giving yourself the chance to think before you speak. When we talk too much, we cannot hear what God is trying to tell us, either directly, or through others. 3. Running Ahead Of God.
Proverbs 3:5-6, NLT Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
***
We will continue learning and growing in God and in wisdom when we intentionally Seek God first in all things, and Listen for God’s voice in everything we do…. instead of constantly running ahead of God, saying and doing whatever we feel is best. We don’t have to worry about missing God’s will or going the wrong way when our hearts are right with God, because God blesses our efforts to obey Him. May God help us all to continue growing in wisdom as we keep on walking with God – not ahead of God. Amen. See also: Bible Verses about Asking God For Wisdom.

4. Living In Willful Disobedience To God.
Psalm 66:18, NIV If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;
Proverbs 19:11, NIV A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.
Ephesians 4:32, ESV Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Living in willful disobedience to God is an easy way to continually block ourselves from receiving wisdom from God. Disobedience is very closely related to pride, so in a way we have come full circle with this last point. When we refuse to forgive others, to let go of anger or to let go of offense, we should not expect God to keep blessing us with wisdom. When we refuse to follow God’s instructions concerning something and instead decide our way is actually the better way, we should not expect God to keep blessing us with wisdom… until we decide to turn back to God and to live in obedience to God.
