When seeking God’s will about something very specific, I often pray –
“God, please let your will be done… Let your will be done in my life always. If what I am about to do is not your will, please give me an unrest about it. Please put a stop to it. Lead me in the right path. I want to follow your will. I want to walk in your way…. if this is what you want me to do, please confirm it to me and grant me peace concerning it.
Dear Lord, Bless the work of my hands and let me glorify and honor you in all that I do. Let me live to testify your goodness. Show me what to do. Lead me where to go. Show me what steps to take. Thank you Lord, because I know your plans for me are for good and not for evil. Thank you because I know you have me on your heart. Thank you because you are my Father and You love me. And I know I have peace in you. Amen.”
Psalm 37:23
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.” (KJV)

Also, I believe that as long as we are following God’s word, obeying God’s commandments and growing in him every day, we have several great options when it comes down to several details of our lives. We have free will. As a very simplified example, You want to write? You can use a red pencil or a blue pencil. Either one is fine. Pick one and use it for God’s glory. Using either of them does not go against God’s will. If God specifically wants you to pick a certain color over the other one for a particular reason, I believe he will make that clear to you. God will order and direct your steps.
Proverbs 16:9 “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” (NIV)
Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.” (NIV)
Remember, God promises to bless those who seek his face! Live a life that will always glorify God. God will always lead you in the right path. So follow your dreams. Follow your passions. Don’t be afraid to go, as long as you know what you are doing is not against the word of God. As an example, if you are passionate about music and you want to go get a first or second degree studying music, and you have prayed to God to lead and guide you… don’t worry too much about going against God’s will. I believe God will lead you, his child, in the right path, he sees your sincere heart. Make use of the opportunities you have to follow your passions, praying and trusting that God lead you every step of the way. I believe that if something is not God’s will, he will reveal it to us his children and let us know if to go a different way, or to wait.
Proverbs 3:5 -6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (NIV)
Proverbs 2:6-10
“God gives out Wisdom free, is plainspoken in Knowledge and Understanding. He’s a rich mine of Common Sense for those who live well, a personal bodyguard to the candid and sincere. He keeps his eye on all who live honestly, and pays special attention to his loyally committed ones.
So now you can pick out what’s true and fair, find all the good trails! Lady Wisdom will be your close friend, and Brother Knowledge your pleasant companion. Good Sense will scout ahead for danger, Insight will keep an eye out for you. They’ll keep you from making wrong turns, or following the bad directions.” (The Message)
Proverbs 2:6-9
“For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go.” (NLT)
Proverbs 16:9
“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” (NIV)
Isaiah 48:17
“Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.” (KJV)
Philippians 2:13 “It is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” (NIV)
John 8:12 “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (NIV)
Trusting in God’s Plan: Trusting in God’s Perfect Plan
When you do know what God wants you to do, please, do not be afraid to do it. Do not be afraid to GO. God will be with you every step of the way. God will always give you the grace to do what he has called you to do. Remember, God did not call you to do this because of your abilities… “but according to his grace”.
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (KJV)
2 Timothy 1:9 “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.” (KJV)
2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” (KJV)
Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (KJV)
Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (KJV)
John 14:26 “The Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (NIV)
Isaiah 58:11 “The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your needs in parched places, and make your bones strong, and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters never fail.” (NIV) Amen!
