Dear Friends, When you feel mistreated:
1. Don’t Jump to Conclusions
Please, remember that we sometimes misunderstand situations. At one time or the other, you’ve probably experienced being misunderstood by others. Please remember that things are not always what they seem – It can be very easy to misunderstand a person or a situation in the heat of the moment. May God grant us all patience and discernment.
2. Take it to God
When you feel mistreated, please, go to God. Take your hurts, pains, frustrations, disappointments and all of your anxious thoughts to God. God understands, God sees your pain, and God cares deeply about what you are going through. Please, take it to God right there and then! Before you react, take it to God. God will guide you and show you what to say, what to do, and how to handle it.
Psalm 18:6, NIV In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.
Philippians 4:6-7, NIV Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

3. Speak Up
Following the examples of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and also that of Apostle Paul, we can speak up when we are mistreated, after seeking God’s direction. Let God lead you and direct you as to when to speak and when to be quiet, what to say and what not to say. May we be sensitive to the voice and leading of the Holy Spirit, and May God’s name be glorified in all we say and do!
We can speak up when we are mistreated
Example from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
John 18:22-23, NIV When Jesus said this, one of the officials nearby slapped him in the face. “Is this the way you answer the high priest?” he demanded. “If I said something wrong,” Jesus replied, “testify as to what is wrong. But if I spoke the truth, why did you strike me?”
Example from the Apostle Paul
Acts 16:35-37, NIV When it was daylight, the magistrates sent their officers to the jailer with the order: “Release those men.” The jailer told Paul, “The magistrates have ordered that you and Silas be released. Now you can leave. Go in peace.” But Paul said to the officers: “They beat us publicly without a trial, even though we are Roman citizens, and threw us into prison. And now do they want to get rid of us quietly? No! Let them come themselves and escort us out.”
Acts 22:25, NLT When they tied Paul down to lash him, Paul said to the officer standing there, “Is it legal for you to whip a Roman citizen who hasn’t even been tried?” Related: Speak up when you see injustice
4. Sometimes, God will allow us to suffer or be mistreated, for the sake of Christ.
Romans 8:17, NLT And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.
Acts 5:41, NLT The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus. Related: Bible Verses about Suffering for Christ’s Sake
5. Thinking about Getting Even? Don’t do it.
Romans 12:19, MSG Don’t insist on getting even; that’s not for you to do. “I’ll do the judging,” says God. “I’ll take care of it.”
Dear Friends, God will strengthen us!
Philippians 4:13, ESV I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
