Dear Friends, I am thinking about Scriptures & Psalms of Individual Lament today – where the author would often cry out to God in a time of great distress, frustration and anger at God’s seeming nonchalance, crying out to God for help, rescue and deliverance.

Examples of Scriptures of Lament include Psalm 13, Psalm 22, Psalm 44, Psalm 25, Psalm 31:9-16, and Lamentations 3:17-26. (Related: Bible Verses When You’re Angry At God.)

One thing that stays consistent in these passages is that at the end of the lamentation, the author returns to a state of rest; acknowledging and expressing faith, hope, and trust in God’s goodness, God’s kindness, God’s faithfulness, and God’s unfailing love.

The following scripture summarizes these thoughts:
Psalm 116:7, NIV Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.

Dear Friends, please go to God with any and every complaint, frustration, question, or accusation you might have. He can take it.

Like the Psalmist, please do not hesitate to cry out to God in your time of distress, struggle, confusion, deep sorrow, pain, regret, and great need – even when you don’t understand. God knows all and sees all, and He already knows your heart anyway.

So please, cry out to God, and Let God Return Your Soul To A State Of Rest. Amen.
