Moses Was A Preview Of Jesus! Moses Was A Shadow Of Jesus!

Key Verse:
Hebrews 10:1, BSB The Law is only a shadow of the good things to come, not the realities themselves. It can never, by the same sacrifices offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.

Good Morning Friends! I am back to update you on some of my thoughts as I journey through the Bible, as narrated by George Sarris on Bible Gateway. ๐Ÿ˜€

Genesis and Exodus were mostly awe inspiring, interesting and very easy to read! The familiar stories all came alive, with details previously missed making so much sense! I love it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Leviticus and Numbers have been a little tougher to handle sometimes. There are beautiful and awe inspiring parts for sure, but there is a lot of violence, sadness, and if I am being honest, lots of questioning on my part! BUT as I keep on listening, I am learning more and more and even though some parts are not completely clear, I am amazed at how much is being revealed!

In Lord, Help Be Humble and also in An Exciting Discovery, we are reminded of how humble Moses was. Today, I am being reminded of how much Moses interceded for the people of Israel! Truly amazing as they sometimes got on his last nerve! lol! When things were going super well, they were happy. But it seemed like the minute they fell into hard times, they were always SO quick to turn against Moses (and God), whine and complain about all that they had supposedly left behind in Egypt, whine and complain and accuse Moses of leading them out of Egypt to kill them, grumble about this and that, and sin against God! At some point they even wanted someone to lead them back to the land of Egypt… forgetting how much God had miraculously and mercifully saved them from in Egypt! Oh my goodness! ๐Ÿ™

When the people of Israel treated God with such contempt and ingratitude, God would get angry with them. But again and again and again, Moses was SO QUICK to intercede for the people of Israel! Despite the false accusations, Despite the backbiting and complaining, Despite their insolence, stubbornness, foolishness, shortsightedness, Despite them going against God… he was always so quick to intercede and advocate for them, and he was always so quick to try to atone for their sins before God!

I am also thinking back now to when Miriam and Aaron were speaking out against Moses in Numbers 12. Miriam and Aaron were being racist and condescending because Moses had married a Cushite woman (an African woman). They also complained : “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?โ€ “Hasnโ€™t he also spoken through us?” (Num 12:2, NIV)

In short, his own dear siblings were saying: “Who does Moses think he is anyway? And what’s with the African wife? Who does he think he is? We are prophets too! God speaks through us too!” Hmm! And then the very next verse says: “(Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)” (Num 12:3, NIV) Despite all that, Moses was quick to intercede and advocate for them!

So, Moses was clearly extremely humble, clearly loved his people, and he continually prayed for them. Moses was the go between for God and the people of Israel. God used Moses to lead the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt (salvation and deliverance). Moses taught the people of Israel more about God. Moses was certainly not perfect, but does this all sound familiar? Moses was a preview of Jesus! ๐Ÿ™‚ Yes, Moses was a Foreshadow of Jesus Christ.

Here are some verses that come to mind:
1 John 2:1, NIV My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father โ€” Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
Romans 8:34b, ESV Christ Jesus… is at the right hand of God… interceding for us.

Hebrews 7:24-25, NIV but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
1 John 4:14, ESV And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.
Romans 10:13, ESV For โ€œeveryone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.โ€

Dear Friends, Jesus was and is our Savior, our Deliverer, and advocate before the Father! PRAISE GOD!

“Jesus, what a beautiful name!
Son of God, Son of Man
Lamb that was slain
Joy and peace, strength and hope
Grace that blows all fear away
Jesus, what a beautiful name!”
(Hillsong)
