Bible Verses When You Are Angry at God – Encouraging Bible Verses for When You Are Angry or Mad at God. Is it a sin to be angry with God?

Maybe you feel this way today:
“O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand?” (Psalm 13:1-2, NLT)

You might be feeling overwhelmed and feeling discouraged:
“How long, O Lord, will you look on and do nothing?” (Psalm 35:17, NLT)

Is it a sin to be angry with God?
Dear Friend, please know that you are not crazy to be angry with God, and are not committing a horrible sin by venting your anger and frustration to God. By all means, cry out to God and pour out your heart to him. God is our refuge, and he is eager to heal, help and comfort you!

Psalm 147:3, ESV He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 62:8, ESV Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.
Psalm 18:6, NIV In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.

Like the psalmist, you may occasionally get angry at God… but please, please, please, don’t stay there! Let God heal you, uplift you, and comfort you. Let God strengthen you, heal you and put you back together. Let God give you renewed hope, joy and peace. Let God’s name be glorified through it all!

Friends, Remembering what God has done in the past will encourage you to keep on trusting God one day at a time. Please, practice counting your blessings and watch God fill your heart with gratitude and thanksgiving. Like the psalmist, after pouring out your frustrations to God, please choose to remember and focus on God’s unfailing love.

“But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me.” (Psalm 13:5-6, NLT) See also: The Lord has been good to me

Here is another example of a child of God being angry at God. The important thing is at the end of it all, we still remember that God is God, God is LOVE, God is with us, God helps us, and God is worthy of our praise! Please, never forget that God is for usIt is well by God’s grace!

Psalm 42:9-11, NIV I say to God my Rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?” My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long, “Where is your God?” Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Matthew 11:28-29, NLT Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
