19 Bible Verses about Abiding In God, Abiding In Jesus, & Abiding In Christ.

What does it mean to abide in God, abide in Jesus, or abide in Christ?
Abiding in Christ means to remain in fellowship with Christ, i.e. abiding in God’s presence. When we abide in Christ, we experience God’s presence, joy and peace; we bear fruit to the glory of God; we keep learning and growing to the glory of God; and we are continually renewed day by day. Please see more on this in the scriptures below:

John 15:4, ESV Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. (Jesus Speaking)

John 15:5, ESV I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (Without Jesus, we can do NOTHING. With Jesus, we can do ALL things!)

2 John 1:9, ESV Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

1 John 2:24, ESV Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father.

1 John 2:6, ESV whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

John 8:31-32, ESV So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

1 John 3:24, ESV Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.

2 Corinthians 5:7, ESV Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

1 John 4:13, ESV By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.

Colossians 3:1-3, ESV If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (Set your heart on God!)

Galatians 2:20, NIV I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Romans 8:1-2, ESV There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. (We belong to God!)

John 15:7, ESV If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

John 15:10-11, ESV If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

1 John 2:27, NLT But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true – it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.

1 John 2:28, NLT And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.

John 16:33, NIV I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
