First, What Is The Church?
The church is the body of Christ, and Christ is the head of the church. The church consists of people (followers of Jesus), not a building.

Ephesians 1:22–23, NLT God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. 23 And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.

1 Corinthians 12:13, NIV For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free – and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

Romans 12:5, ESV So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. (We are one body in Christ!)

1 Corinthians 12:12, ESV For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:26, ESV If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

Ephesians 2:14-16, NLT For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us. He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups. Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death.

1 Corinthians 12:27, ESV Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

Ephesians 2:19, NIV Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household,

Hebrews 13:17, TPT Obey your spiritual leaders and recognize their authority, for they keep watch over your soul without resting since they will have to give an account to God for their work. So it will benefit you when you make their work a pleasure and not a heavy burden. (Bible Verses About Attitude Towards Authority)

Ephesians 4:11, NLT Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

Ephesians 4:13-16, NLT This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Matthew 28:19-20, ESV Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
