Trusting God One Day at a Time
Psalm 118:24-25, ESV This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Save us, we pray, O LORD! O LORD, we pray, give us success!
Psalm 52:8, NLT I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.

Jan 7, 2017: I woke up this morning with this phrase in my mind: Trusting God one day at a time. I opened my eyes, looked at my clock, and closed my eyes again. I thought about what it means to trust God one day at a time… and these thoughts and scriptures quickly came to mind:

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” ~ Matthew 6:34, NIV

When teaching his disciples how to pray in The Lord’s Prayer; Jesus instructs them to ask God for Daily Bread as they pray: “Give us each day our daily bread” ~ Luke 11:3. (See Bible Verses about God’s Provision)

When God provided for the Israelites in the wilderness, God provided them Daily Manna (See Exodus 16).

When God provided for Prophet Elijah in the midst of famine and extreme danger, he did not know how God would do it, but he trusted God daily.

Even our dear Lord and savior Jesus Christ trusted God one day at a time: “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” ~ Matthew 8:20, ESV.

Throughout the Bible, we are encouraged not to worry, not to fear, not to try to figure every single detail out, but to keep trusting God for wisdom from above, and peace from within: Trusting God one day at a time!

This certainly does not mean we will never be discouraged. When things don’t go the way I expect them to go, when I run into problems that threaten to allow discouragement to settle in, When I wonder if I am making the right choices, I remember this and SMILE: God blesses our efforts to obey him, and The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. I am encouraged!

Yes, I am encouraged, because I remember that my part is to Trust God one day at a time, doing my best every single day as I believe God is leading me, rejoicing in the Lord for the blessing of each new day, and trusting God to save me and grant me success (See Psalm 118:24-25 above).

I remember that true success is knowing God’s will and doing it,
I remember that God surrounds the righteous with favor as a shield, and
I remember that being righteous means being in “right standing with God.”

This keeps getting better, doesn’t it? When I really think about it, my part is extremely simple – every day, my part is to Trust and Obey, and leave the rest in God’s able hands. That’s it! *Big smiles* ~ Thank God ~ I am encouraged!

Thank you Lord, because “When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.” (Psalm 94:19, NLT) Thank you Lord, because you take the time to encourage us! Thank you for your steadfast love and brand new mercies! Thank you because you bless our sincere efforts to obey you!

Lord, give me the wisdom, faith and courage to trust you one day at a time!
Lord, let me be strong in the Lord, encourage myself in the Lord, and find my strength in the Lord!
Lord, help me to always have a confident trust in you!
Lord, fill me continually with your joy, peace, goodness and love.
Lord, May I never forget The Power of Christ in me!
Lord, May I never forget about God’s great love for me! Amen.
