Are you doubting in the dark?

A little while ago, I lay down at night thinking over some big decisions I had made, based on how I truly believed God had directed me. I had prayed about it and put it all in God’s hands. I felt complete peace with my decisions, and I was convinced God was in it all. But now, I tossed and turned in the dark, rethinking and second guessing the decisions I had made. What if God wasn’t really leading me after all? What if it was all my imagination? What if I was wrong? What if this turns out to be a huge disaster? What if, What if, What if?

My anxious thoughts were interrupted by an encouraging word that seemed to suddenly pop in my head: Why are you doubting in the dark what God told you in the light? I thought about it and realized that this was exactly what I was doing! I decided to trust God, and not allow my fears to cause me to take my eyes off God.

Today,
I am reminded that following God’s path for us doesn’t necessarily mean we will never have trouble or discomfort. (See John 16:33)

I am reminded that the enemy will constantly try to find a way to trip us up, discourage us, immobilize us, and keep us paralyzed in second guessing, fear, worry and anxiety. The enemy never stops trying to distract, discourage and destroy us while we are on this earth, so we must continually focus on fixing our eyes on God! (See 1 Peter 5:7-8, Ephesians 6:11-13)

I am also reminded of the following scriptures:
Psalm 94:19, NLT When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.

Isaiah 26:3-4, NLT You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD God is the eternal Rock.

Jeremiah 29:11, NIV For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Dear Friends, please remember that God blesses our efforts to obey him, and that obedience is the proof of our faith in God. God sees our hearts, and God will never set us up for disaster. Please, hang in there and do not lose your confident trust in God. Please, don’t forget that His plans for us are good, not evil. No matter what, God will never leave you or forsake you. God will give you the strength to endure, God will see you through.
