Do you know Him?
If you are currently not walking with God, please allow me to invite you to join this wonderful family of God that I belong to. God created us and longs to have a personal relationship with every one of us. He doesn’t just want you to be a “Christian” by religion – It’s honestly not about religion, it’s about relationship. God loves you so very much and longs to be your best friend, your father, your mother, your sister, your brother, your confidant, your savior, your provider, your protector, your king, your all. He is patiently waiting…
God’s desire is for us all to live and experience abundant lives in our daily walk with him. He wants us to grow in him and get to know him better every day. He longs for us to find complete joy in him, through his son Jesus Christ and the power of God’s Holy Spirit in us.
Here are some Bible Verses & Quotes to illustrate what I am saying :
“Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (ESV)
Psalm 139:13 -14, 17 -18 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.” (NIV)
Isaiah 41:13 “For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” (NIV)
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV)
John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (ESV)
Jeremiah 31:3b “…I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” (NIV)
Isaiah 49:15-16 “Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.” (NLT)
We were all created in God’s image but man fell , and we are all born into sin. The wages of sin is death (aka hell, eternity away from God). So sin leads unto death. But God loves us so much, he sent his son Jesus Christ to die for our sins.
Jesus cancelled our debt – He took our place! God longs to reconcile us back to himself. When we come to God through Jesus Christ, seeking him with sincere hearts, confessing our sins and turning away from our past, he forgives us, and we start afresh. We begin a relationship with God, finding joy & peace in Him. We have the assurance of eternal life (aka heaven, eternity with God). We show our love to God by loving others, glorifying Him and by doing what pleases him.
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (NIV)
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (NLT)
John 1:1,14 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (KJV)
- The Word here refers to Jesus Christ.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV)
John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (ESV)
1 Cor 15:3-4 “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” (ESV)
Col 2:13-14 “You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.” (NLT)
Romans 3:22 “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.” (NLT, emphasis mine)
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (KJV)
“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD:
Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall become like wool.” (ESV)
1 John 4:9-11 “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (NIV)
Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” (NASB)
So what must I do to be saved? How do I obtain this free gift of eternal life?
- By Grace, through Faith. Not By Works!
Acts 16:30b,31 “….what must I do to be saved? So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved…” (KJV)
Romans 10:9-10, 13 “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (ESV)
John 1:12 “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” (NLT)
Ephesians 2: 8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” (NKJV)
Deuteronomy 30:20a “You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life.” (NLT)
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (KJV)
What does it mean to “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ”? - By placing your complete faith and trust in Jesus Christ ,and relying upon Him as your only hope of salvation and eternal life. You are trusting Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.
***Believing & Accepting Jesus makes you a Christian. Praying the prayer below without meaning what you say will not magically make you a Christian. What makes you a Christian is truly repenting, believing in Jesus, and making a decision to Accept Jesus into your life as your savior. We are all trusting God to continually lead and guide us to live a life of obedience to Him every day. Please read the notes and scriptures above for a refresher anytime. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to let me know. God bless you!
To Accept Jesus into your heart and life today, please pray this or a similar prayer (and sincerely mean and believe what you say ):
“Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that my sin has separated me from you. I want to turn away from my past life today, accepting and trusting Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected, is alive, and hears my prayers. I believe His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness and salvation. I trust in Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I commit my life into your hands, dear God. I choose life. Please help me to obey you, and live a life that pleases you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
John 1:12 “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” (NLT)
Titus 3:5 “He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.” (NLT)
Congratulations – Welcome to the Family of God!
This is a decision you will not regret. I pray that the joy and peace of God will continue to dwell in your heart. I pray that you will get closer to God everyday, you will know him more and become more and more like him. I pray your life will always be full of God’s peace, hope, love, joy and purpose. Just keep on trusting him. God is always there for you. Please, don’t ever forget how much God loves you. No matter what you’re going through, He is there.
Follow up your decision with the following:
1. Regularly spend time talking (praying) to God and reading his word, found in The Bible, each day. Pray for wisdom and understanding as you read, and ask God to show you how to please him and be more like him. Remember Jesus is your new best friend – please keep in touch with him. Please click here to sign up for the Daily Bible Verses Devotional from JollyNotes.com. I pray this is a blessing to you. Our Daily Bread is another free daily devotional I highly recommend. It is available for free by mail, email, online or on your mobile device.
2. Connect with a local church where you can fellowship with other believers, worship God, and by God’s grace get to know God more. Tell someone else that you have accepted Jesus into your life.
3. Seek out a small group of fellow Christians you can hang out with regularly. Most churches will have small groups, life groups, cell groups or Bible Study groups – find one that you can join. It could also be outside the church, for instance you may decide to regularly fellowship with a few of your Christian friends. These people will support you, encourage you, and will answer any questions you might have. And you will by God’s grace have a lot of fun in the process!
4. It would be wonderful to find an Accountability Partner. Pray for God to show you the right person. Someone you trust and can open up to, who would encourage you as well as lovingly challenge you if you are going the wrong way. Read more about Accountability here.
5. Get Baptized – Any Christian/Follower of Jesus can Baptize you.
6. Rely on God to show you how to live every day. You have now begun a relationship with God and you are an ambassador for Christ. Don’t forget to live accordingly. God will show you how to continually live in a way that will glorify him. The more you get to know God, the more in love with him you will become.
7. Please, don’t forget to share your faith with others – with God’s help and by His grace! Let us spread the good news as followers of Jesus Christ, as we are commissioned to do! Ask God to help you to be an ambassador of Jesus Christ everywhere you go – even in your everyday life, in all you say and do.
1 Peter 3:15 “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” (ESV)
John 3:17 “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (ESV)
If you accepted Jesus in your life today, please let me know.
If you have any questions at all, please feel very free to let me know.
No question is too silly. Really !
