Dear Friends, I read the above scriptures this morning and they made me think.
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”
“God is in heaven and you are on earth.”
Today, I am reminded that God is greater, far far far greater than we are.
If we truly want to know God, we must draw near to Him.
However, we owe him deep reverence in our words and our actions.
God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Who can know the thoughts of God? Who can understand God completely? Who can argue with His ways?
We know so little! We certainly don’t know it all! We must learn to come to the presence of God ready to LISTEN and LEARN, and not just to talk, talk, talk and talk some more! We must not be quick to make rash promises to God or to others! We must be quick to listen and slow to speak (James 1:19). Dear Lord, please help us! Bible Verses about Learning & Growing
Isaiah 55:8-9, NLT “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
Ecclesiastes 5:2, NLT Don’t make rash promises, and don’t be hasty in bringing matters before God. After all, God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So let your words be few.
Friends, God is the Lord of all. There is no one like God. Our God is greater than everything! God was there long before we humans even existed. He will be there long after we have left this earth!
His mighty power is beyond compare, yet he loves each of us as if there were only one of us.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” ~ John 3:16, ESV
Yes, we should come to the throne of grace with boldness, confidence & expectation, trusting in His unfailing love for us, and trusting in God’s power. There is nothing impossible with God, and He loves to help us and bless us, His dear children!
We must however also remember that God is to be revered and respected. We are not here to tell God what to do, or to teach Him how to get things done. As we continue to grow in our relationship with God, we must honor him, love him, worship him, obey him, trust him, and learn from Him. Our God knows best! Always!
Matthew 11:29b, NLT Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Related: Dear Lord, Please Teach me what is best for me.)
Prayer
Dear Lord, help us to reverence you with our thoughts, our words, and our actions. Help us to continually draw near to you in deep reverence and awe. Help us to think twice before foolishly making rash promises to you or to anyone else. Help us to come into your presence ready to listen and learn from you! Dear Lord, “let our words be few”!
