@Donzie – Thanks so much for taking the time to read and to comment as well. Your points are very well taken and I agree with you. Trust me, we are continually trying our best to teach our children about comments they make about other people – to their faces or behind their backs. It is something we adults often need to be reminded about as well. I pray God continually gives us wisdom in raising our little blessings, and I pray that we ourselves remember to practice what we try to impart. By the way, you may find it interesting to note that my then 2yr old is now 4! lol! He is much “wiser” now lol. Thanks again, God bless.

It’s all well and good that this 2yr old’s comments were found to be cute and you were able to remind people that we are wonderfully made – big bum and all. All this is true and acceptable from a 2yr old only because of his innocence. Just remember though that such “observations” from an older person could be viewed as obnoxious or offensive.

I therefore suggest that, somehow, you also try teaching your little ones to be careful about what they actually say.

I’ve always been careful to teach my children from a young age, to be careful & sensitive about comments about another person’s physique, as you never know how such comments may be viewed by the recipient. Sometimes the truth hurts….. even when it was not intended. As Christians we would not want to offend or hurt others by any of our utterances.

I grew up with a very low self-esteem because of my physical looks. In our country, having a dark skin is not their concept of beauty. And I have big crooked teeth and a long face…..I grew up with so much teasing and was into a lot of fights when I was a kid because of those teasings. When I became an adult, even adults of older age called me ugly. But when I moved to the US and found my husband, I learned to appreciate how I look like. And I even thanked God for giving me the life and body that He has blessed me. “We are created in the image and likeness of God.” Beauty is passing, but a woman who is in God radiates true eternal beauty.

I think how we feel about ourselves, affects how we respond when others make comments. If I’m secure in my trust in God’s love for me exactly as I am then I don’t get upset by the comments of others.

Really sweet and so true, my 6yr old did the same thing to me when he was 4! I was so amused, and in our usual ‘African’ way I scolded him a little saying its rude to say a ‘lady’s’ bum bum is big.
Its now a joke in our home, every now and then the boys say…see your big bum bum’ to each other and to me.
On a serious note I take your learning Bomzee…good job!
