Ok this is pretty silly but I just wanted to share it with you guys:)!
The other day, the kids and I were hanging out doing a bunch of different things, trying to quickly get the day started, when my 2yr old took a long look at my behind and suddenly announced:
“That’s a really big bum-bum Mummy“!! Is that your big bum-bum??? He then came over to examine so carefully, what he seemed to have really noticed for the first time. Wow… Mummy has a big bum-bum!
I didn’t even know how to respond initially. lol. But he’s standing there looking all wide eyed at me, still waiting for an answer. So I say – yes honey, that’s my bum-bum!! You have a little bum and I have a big bum.. and it’s ok:)!
We all had a good laugh about it – My little guy was naturally just being inquisitive and he was free to express himself about this, just as he would express himself about anything else. He didn’t say it to insult me. He didn’t say it to praise me. It was just an observation. I know that for a fact because he is only 2yrs old!:)!
This little incident reminded me of two things –
First, it reminded me that whether a person is 2yrs old or 70yrs old, they may sometimes say something that may kinda throw you off for a sec. But people often just say things without really realizing what it may sound like to others or what it may mean to you personally. I guess what I’m saying is – No matter who a person is, no matter how well you know them, and no matter how old they are – Don’t just assume that they are saying something to insult you…. we all have different thought patterns and an innocent statement to one person might mean something completely different to someone else.
And you know what, even if by chance they are saying it to diss you… ah well, it really doesn’t matter… it’s not your problem!:)! And that leads me to the second part – it’s not your problem because:
We are fearfully and wonderfully made! So it doesn’t matter if I have a big bum or a little bum. Big ears, little ears. Little nose, big nose. It’s all relative anyway…and the important thing is – I’m fearfully and wonderfully made – I am pretty sure of that:). God took his precious time in creating every single part of me, from the tip of my head to the soles of my feet… and every part is perfect just the way it is!!!
Here’s the Verse/Thought of the Day:
Psalm 139:14
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (NIV) (See More Great Verses)
Have a wonderful day everyone!! And cheers to our big bums, little bums, big feet and little feet…. Praise God for his wonderful works:)!!!
Much Love & Blessings,
Bomi Jolly

awwww that was sweet….from the mouth of kids and you are right though i complain about some body part or the other every other day i know that i was beautifully, wonderfully and specially made.
Whao.
How I wish people could just know this that you don’t have to live on people’s comment. Why should you get moody at 1pm because of someone’s comment? That only means you do not really know what you are.
What people say do not determine who we are but our true person/worth is revealed in how we react to them.
Cheers.
Out of the mouth of babes. really nice
Nice one! I must admit i was taken aback myself by d question your little boy asked. lol. It also got me thinking…the only way I won’t “assume that they are saying something to insult me”, is if I walk in God’s love. 1 corinth 13 tells us that “Love…is not provoked, thinks no evil”.
.-= Lola´s last blog ..Rhapsody of Grace =-.
@Neefemi – I know, it’s so easy to find different parts of our body to complain about isn’t it? I hope we always remember that we are beautifully, wonderfully, fearfully made with lots of love by our Father=)! Thanks Neefemi!
@ Shola – Yep.. you are absolutely right, no reason to get ourselves all worked up over nothing! Often times the person making the comment doesn’t even realize what effect they’ve had on you… they go on their merry way while you sit and sulk lol. Why make yourself miserable over what someone else says… ? Thanks Shola!
@ Asake – Thank you very much Asake:)!!
@Lola – Exactly!! Love is so all-encompassing, so true. May we always walk in love – God’s love. Thanks Lola!
Children do say the darnedest things lol, but you’re right. We shouldn’t always assume people have ulterior motives for speaking or doing some things. Nice moral there, thanks for sharing.
ROTFLMBO!! I must confess this caught me off-guard a bit. Nice lesson from this incident…I’m still laffing
.-= HexyDre´s last blog ..Omo9ja Don Lost – Nobody Dey Find Am =-.
haha… big bummed huh? I want mine back! lol… Isn’t it wonderful to know that He took His time to weave us into being? awesomeness!
am sure many f us can relate with it, saying something out of mere innocent observation not knowing the other person has taken it out of context!
we should learn to be unassuming and stop being on the edge as if everyone is out to get us. nice post bomi!
@ Myne – I hope we always remember that. Thanks a lot Myne! Much appreciated =)!
@Hexy – LOL!! And lol @”ROTFLMBO”!! That cracked me up even more…lol
@Maxine – awww!! Yep.. He’s truly truly truly awesome… That’s my father;)!!
@ Femme – Yes, I’m sure we can all relate with this – regardless of the side of the coin we’re on at each particular time.. whether we’re the ones making or receiving the “interesting” comment. lol. Thanks F!
Hey Bomi, thx 4 sharing. Big bummed eh, well am big feet(ed) lol. Ironic u added that. Always had ppl staring down at me feet, even way back @ Feggo & literally screaming. I still have challenges finding my shoe size and all but eh, God made me fearfully, wonderfully & feetfully. I do confess it took a while to come to terms with it tho’, i mean what purpose could having large feet have but i get ppl telling me stuff like “Wasn’t sure if it was u so i just looked at ur feet” lolz. Mark of identity, wouldn’t u agree? Well, methinks Wande Coal said it pretty succintly, “So pe ti e”. Do pardon my yoruba. Tkc Big Bummed Bomi & luv to the family.
Wow, just the reminder I needed on a day when I am not feeling very well (and feeling sorry for myself because of it!) – we truly are fearfully and wonderfully made! Thanks for letting the Spirit use you to share your wise words!
well well well,am a plus size person and every now & then i come across pple who av a problem wt my bin fat & i also av pple who admire me & jst lv d way i look. I think durin my outin today av ad lyk 10 pple who admired me. Some of their comments “baby u 2 much o, omo o kun pot o, orobo to bad, sister e yato joo” & lots more,i jst smile & keep movin. I am biiiiiig bummed, very brave & proud of my body. Infact d bum is part of my asset. Ad 2 insure it. …… Ur lil boy ws admirin his fathers asset… Lol. Nyc 1 again
@Abby – That is such a cute story! Thank you for sharing that with us! “Wasn’t sure if it was u so i just looked at ur feet”…that is the funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time!! Yes I agree – it’s a great mark of identity!! And I couldn’t agree more with you Abby on that quote “Sope tie”!! Translated – “Give thanks for what you have”… “Mo sope temi” – I am definitely giving thanks for what I have!! Thank you Abby:)!!
@ Jane – I am so glad to hear that, trust you feel lots better now! Thank you very much for taking the time to read and to share! I hope we always remember…!
{{{Mega Hugs}}}!
@ Kinkimo – LOLL!!! Oh my goodness you had me rolling with laughter with that! You are too much… ! Asset indeed loool!! Nice one – Thanks K!
Does it matter what pple think, the body is just a covering, it’s who we are inside that really matters. Every shape & size is beautiful. The world will be uninteresting if we are to come in same shape & size. After God created the world he saw that it was a beautiful place which included we humans, so why do we think some shapes & sizes are better than others.
…the subject title is “appealing”…lol. Well, God uses the little and simple stuff to confound the great. Great article.
Very interesting piece. Hahaha loved reading it…
wow, very cool stuff. we really need patience and wisdom to know when not to talk back after hearing something “unpleasant” things.
more importantly, i dont have to feel bad anytime my mum points out that i have a small bum!
@ Olubisi – Couldn’t agree more – How boring the world would be if we all looked the same. And that’s a great point – It’s what’s inside that truly matters anyway! Thanks!
@Cee-Y – LOL @ The “appealing” subject title…Glad it got u to read it lol. Thanks Cee-Y for taking the time to read and comment, glad you found it useful:)!
@ Temitope – Thanks a lot:)! Glad to hear you enjoyed reading it!
@ Omolara – lol…yep – Pls tell Mama God made ur small bum fearfully, wonderfully and certainly perfectly… lol! Thanks Omolara!
Hey bomi lovely article
I`ve got a big head i wonder what ur son would think.
Keep on doing what ur doin sister, its a blessing.
cheers
I just finished reading to Hudson “You are Special” by Max Lucado. It totally ties in to what you are saying.
Thanks again Bomi for the encouraging words!
It is a timely reminder for me, as a battle the “bulge” after two children. But every stretch mark and pound is worth it!
Lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sis B its so Funny o. Yes I totally agree with you about the fact that we are all wonderfully made. My mum used to always tell me that we are all beautifully unique in our own way. Becos sometimes the media tries to portray the perfect or ideal woman and we wish we had a bit or more boobs or bum. Thanks for sharing this, I really love.it.!!!!!!!!
Bomi, U just helped me settle a “fight” i had with my aunt this morning after she said something that annoyed me. God bless U.
@ Seun – LOL @Having a big head!! Thank you so much for your very encouraging words. … I really appreciate it! God bless!
@ Sarah – I can totally relate… in addition to a big bum, I guess I am also blessed with a nice little “bulge” as well
!! lol. So you’re not alone LOL..Thank you Sarah!
@Christy – Thank you:)!! I know what u mean – people are bombarded with images of perfect all the time. Glad to hear you loved it C! Thank you!
@Omolara – That’s amazing, so glad to hear that!! Thank you very much for sharing that Lara, God bless you too!!
LOL LOL. Omg! He’s so funny!!
Love the post. It’s just like when I used to think my nose was too big, I’ve come to realize that I wouldn’t be as much of a fine girl if it was smaller. Honestly, I looked in the mirror and imagined it. My face just wouldn’t look right.
Love you and miss you! x
Very funny, pity you didn’t have a recorder with you when he said it, that way you could play it back to him when he’s in his adolescence (warning, not at his 10th or 21st birthday party – i don’t think he’ll find it that funny then)
You are dead right Bomi, quite a reflective piece. we hardly think thru all we say to friends and we shouldn’t expect more.
that young chap!

@Femi – LOL! He really is a funny little guy lol.. I LOVE your nose!! It looks just like mine lol… Thanks Femi.. love and miss you too:)!!
@Kunle – Honestly, maybe I should just go install a camcorder permanently everywhere…lol. Thanks Kunle, appreciate it:)!
@O. Nelson & Brenda – Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment, glad you found it reflective/funny! Thanks guys=).
I really hope to meet your 2-yr-old someday because he is such a funny little man. You are right though. Sometimes when someone says something to me, I roll it over in my mind for hours or even days, wondering what they meant by it. Were they being sarcastic, complimentary, insulting or what?? LOL!! Your piece really helps me see that there is no need to waste my time and brain matter on words that really only hurt me if I let them. Thanks so much Bomi!!!
Bomi,
U are doing a great Job. Happy U are letting God use U this way. I look forward to reading each new article, cos i definately know God has something to say to me though it.
Once again, keep up the good work ! Thank U.
Hi Mummie Big bum-bum…! He he. This so nice… And so true. We should always give people “the benefit of doubt”. Walk in love towards everybody, don’t get easily provoked, or offended, or hold a grudge against anyone. Thank you for being a source of inspiration once again! Love ya bundles… xXx
Nice piece Bomi..Femi I love my big nose too…
@ Feyi – LOL! Don’t mind him… he’s so silly!:)! Love the way you put it – there’s absolutely no need to “waste my time and brain matter on words that really only hurt me if I let them. “… love that! Thanks a lot Feyi!
@Olabisi – Thank you so very much for your encouraging words. I really appreciate it. I pray God always gets the glory for everything I do…Thank you Olabisi!!
@Toju – LOL!! God help us always give people the “benefit of doubt”, in every way! God help us to truly walk in love, every day – in the big and in the little things we say and do. Thank you Toju!! Much love!
@ S-Ayo – Thank you so much sis… cheers to big noses too!! lol!
Hey dearie,
howdy, tanx again and like always there are two sides to every coin. We all should not just look @ it from one angle. The other angle is also about learning not to speak the 1st thought that comes to your head without thinking it thru cos there is a saying that says
“the statement is yours n the meaning is mine”
Kudos Bomi, and tanx for the reminder am wonderfully, fearfully n also bumfully/hipfully made n it suits meah jus fine.
regards to the boys they are great
Awesome, in fact this note has just blown off my worries… thanks alot for healing my soul…. I’m so happy now

lol this was cute & a nice lesson out of it too.
.-= Anahid´s last blog ..The Sunshine Award =-.
@Yetunde – I completely agree…we should certainly learn to be considerate in our speech as well! And like you said, not just always say the first thing that comes to mind lol. Very true!! And LOL@Bumfully and Hipfully made… I love it:)!! Thanks Yetunde!
@Anita – Thank you very much! I’m really glad to hear that, that’s wonderful! Stay happy…lol;)!
@Anahid – Thank you Miss Sunshine:)! Still basking in my award=)!
I love the conclusions of the story. I guess because of our insecurities we take some stuff said to us negative while it actually was not meant this way. Maybe we should first start loving ourselves.
.-= lena´s last blog ..Man, Woman and the Significant Other =-.
Really sweet and so true, my 6yr old did the same thing to me when he was 4! I was so amused, and in our usual ‘African’ way I scolded him a little saying its rude to say a ‘lady’s’ bum bum is big.
Its now a joke in our home, every now and then the boys say…see your big bum bum’ to each other and to me.
On a serious note I take your learning Bomzee…good job!
Have a blessed weekend
Awww…. so cute! I love kids; they say the cutest things. May we never forget that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by our heavenly Father.
Thank you, Bomi, for this little reminder.
God bless you.
@Lena- Absolutely – I cannot overemphasize the importance of loving ourselves first, and being confident in who we are. Then we can love others too:)! Thanks a lot Lena!
@S-Olabimpe – Lol!!! I don’t blame you, can you imagine your little guy saying that to a stranger? lol.. Thanks so much for stopping by, appreciate it! Have a blessed week!
@Ope – Isn’t it amazing? lol.. Amen, may we never ever forget!:)!.. Thanks so much Ope, God bless you!!
Your note is too funny.. you are right.. we are all wonderfully made.. took me a while to realise it, especially based what you see & hear from ppl around you.. but I truly believe in it.. We are each given a wonderful body, mind & soul and it is our job to keep it that way to the best of our ability…
Adore this account & the truths you draw from it. Plus I just plain like the way you dealt with your 2yr old
I think how we feel about ourselves, affects how we respond when others make comments. If I’m secure in my trust in God’s love for me exactly as I am then I don’t get upset by the comments of others.
.-= Tracy´s last blog ..Is Mercy only good when I’m receiving it? =-.
I grew up with a very low self-esteem because of my physical looks. In our country, having a dark skin is not their concept of beauty. And I have big crooked teeth and a long face…..I grew up with so much teasing and was into a lot of fights when I was a kid because of those teasings. When I became an adult, even adults of older age called me ugly. But when I moved to the US and found my husband, I learned to appreciate how I look like. And I even thanked God for giving me the life and body that He has blessed me. “We are created in the image and likeness of God.” Beauty is passing, but a woman who is in God radiates true eternal beauty.
@Asifa, Tracy & Bingkee:
Thanks so much for taking the time to share. Your comments are all food for thought!:)! I hope we always remember to play our parts in keeping our bodies, minds and souls beautiful. May we always stay completely secure in God’s love for us. And may we always see the true beauty in ourselves and in others around us….always remembering that in God, we “radiate true eternal beauty”! Thanks again!
thanks Bomi! i truly was meant to read this today!!!!! and it made my evening…!
It’s pretty early in the morning and this read has surely made me smile! I’ll be wearing that smile allll day regardless of what anyone says or does!
Big bum-bum Bomi!!! lol! I can just picture that! Such a cutie!!! but I agree with u. it don’t matter what it looks like! bcos God took out his precious time to mold and shape me/you… thats wat we all need to remember…thnks for the words…
